Precision Tooling
Selecting the right tools for each job is a critical process and is often overlooked by machinist
and engineers. On this particular job, FUTEK Precision Machining faced the task of fabricating high volume parts that require a Charmille 2400 CC Wire CUT EDM machine. By utilizing Chick Work holding tools, the team was able to machine much higher quantities efficiently to meet demanding deadlines.

FEA Analysis
There is a lot more planning to each product design than what most people assume. For this project, FUTEK Team utilized its engineering experience and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate the products weak points. By doing so, the FEA software helped engineers improve the product design before a prototype was created. This helps customers avoid the pitfall of spending too much money on prototyping and testing.

Miniature EDM
Some of the most difficult projects we have worked on have been in the miniature line. Micro
and Miniature machining require exceptional attention to detail. The job required FUTEK’s
Mitsubishi FX10k Wire Cut EDM Machine for precision cuts, which were extremely difficult considering the part size. FUTEK Precision Machining currently uses Mastercam and Gibbs Cam for its programming but we can accept other formats as well.

Multi Tolerances
Considered to be one of the more gruesome jobs due to the number of operations required. While some jobs may require a few basic operations, this job required nearly half dozen operations to complete with multiple high tolerance requirements. FUTEK Team also designed a radial tool to machine the inside of this part. By working on challenging jobs such as this, FUTEK Engineers and Machinists are able to carry their expertise into future jobs to ensure the highest standards of quality.

Complete Traceability
  One critical aspect in manufacturing precision parts is having an outstanding quality system.    Very few facilities can claim to have a complete traceability systems in place. If a    customer was to ask us, “show me the entire process for building this part”, we can lay   out every single drawing for parts, tools, and use our Oracle database to show yield, scrap, efficiency through the entire process.

Precision Quality
With heavy EDM work on this housing, its considered to be one of the most complex pieces FUTEK Precision Machining has manufactured. On this project an Okuma MCV 4020 was used with a tool path that moves in the x, y and z to machine the fine curvature required.
